Minute for Your Kidneys
By Shane Power, Watertree Health President…
Picture this: You’re in a football stadium watching your favorite team crush the competition. Look around. Did you know that 33% of your fellow fans in the crowd are at risk for kidney disease? That’s 1 in every 3 people. That’s huge. Sadly, most of them don’t know they are at risk because kidney disease has no symptoms and often goes undetected until it’s too late.
Are YOU the 33%? Know the risk factors:
- High blood pressure
- Heart disease
- Family history of kidney disease
Here are 4 ways you can take action:
- Take the Kidney Risk Quiz
Take the National Kidney Foundation’s simple quiz to find out where you stand. It only takes a minute and it could save your life. Visit MinuteForYourKidneys.org
- Spread the News
Educate yourself and others about kidney disease prevention. Visit the National Kidney Foundation’s website for shareable content, such as articles and videos that provide important kidney health facts and wellness tips.
- Get People Talking “33”
Highlight the color orange or the number “33” in your photos then post them using #MinuteForYourKidneys. Some suggestions include: putting on orange makeup, wearing orange sunglasses, or doing 33 sit-ups. The ideas are unlimited!
- Team Up with Your Coworkers to Wear Orange
Orange is the signature color for kidney health. Ask your coworkers to join you and commit to wearing orange on World Kidney Day, March 12, to raise awareness about the importance of kidneys to overall health. It can be a shirt, hat, or even a pair of orange socks. Don’t forget to post the photos using #MinuteForYourKidneys!
Join us on March 12th, World Kidney Day, or anytime during National Kidney Month in March to help raise awareness for kidney disease risks. Importantly, take a minute and find out if you’re one of the 33%.
