I wish to go to have a playground

At three years old, Sam was already painfully aware of what had been taken from him. Confined to a wheelchair, he watched as other kids his age bounced around the playground, swinging from the monkey bars and squealing during tag. He wished he could walk, run and join them.

Although Make-A- Wish ® couldn’t grant Sam’s wish to walk again, they gave him the chance to play. Happiest in motion, the volunteers worked with Sam to design a unique playground that he could navigate with ease. When it came time to install, Sam even pitched in! The finished playground included a special glider, enabling him to safely sit and swing, and a wheelchair-accessible table.

“Sam’s eyes lit up every time the construction guys came into the backyard,” Sam’s mom said. “It was wonderful. He’s a very happy little boy and this experience has been absolutely outstanding.” With help from Make-A- Wish, Sam’s wish to move and play has come true!
