Rosie is a vibrant and courageous 16-year-old who loves the ocean and swimming. She was diagnosed in 2015 with brain cancer, and went through intense rounds of radiation after undergoing emergency surgery. When Make-A-Wish® volunteers met Rosie for the first time, she couldn’t wait to share with them her most cherished dream: to swim with dolphins in Hawaii. The prospect of their upcoming trip put a bright spot on the family’s calendar, knowing they would finally be able to relax and spend quality time together in the midst of Rosie’s cancer battle and uncertainty.

To start her trip, Rosie had surfing lessons followed by an afternoon of snorkeling.  She was mesmerized by all the colorful fish she encountered. The next day was just as exciting for Rosie as she swam with dolphins. The close encounter with her favorite animal was purely magical! She and her family had a blast hiking, spending time laying on the beach and attending a luau. Being able to have five days of complete peace without thinking of the next round of treatment was priceless for Rosie.

Rosie’s mom shared, “The wish experience was as magical as we had hoped for. We will always cherish the moments we spent as a family as we are facing more challenging times ahead.”
